Imagination + execution = amazement

Once in a while something comes across one's field of vision, ear shot, desk or whatever that clarifies.  Even less times it may amaze but it's very rare indeed when both things happen at the same time.

Today was a rare day.

Most times, when a plan is rolling out from development through execution it might hit the mark though does it truly make music?  I mean that in the sense that with all of the things that have to line up for a plan to be successful, there's usually some roughness around the edges.

It's rarely - if ever - amazing.  It works, it succeeds but it doesn't make music.

So on the rare occasion that the two key pieces of a plan (imagination and execution) do form together with all their constituent parts to make music, it's by design not accident and has timing, coordination and clear roles & responsibilities defined.

That's what I thought as I watched the following clip.

While there are obviously more details in the mix (art, craft and engineering, for example) it's how imagination and execution combine to create the outcome, which is amazing and entirely applicable to marketing planning on any level.

If nothing else, it's pure beauty so watch, revel in Martin Molin's Wintergatan Marble Machine and thanks for tuning in.
