To infinity, and beyond

Watching Elon Musk’s 2017 TED interview is inspiring.

The humility in which he presents and talks about his dreams for the future are almost childlike, in the sense there’s almost a lack of excitement and more like “isn’t everyone thinking that”?

That’s an attitude we should all hold onto, and that's the creativity and concept that nothing is ever impossible.

In the 40 minute interview though, it’s the last 5 minutes that provide the real capstone (or launchpad, depending on your perspective).

That’s where Mr. Musk makes his “pitch” that the presence of tech alone won’t automatically improve life and existence (and he cites some great examples).

The need, want, desire or inspiration to make it so is required because nothing is inevitable. And that’s a fact.

His sign-off is gold: “I’m not trying to be anybody’s saviour…I just try to think about the future, and not be sad”.

I’m guilty of that. Being sad about the future that is.

Those who know me personally know of my love for the past and nostalgia, but that sign-off really got me.

Because it’s the future in which we’ll all spend our time (because the present just passed you by) and from that point of view, I can’t think of a better affirmation to have.

I just became one of your fans, Elon Musk.
